Arthur L. Staubach Arthur L. Staubach, 90, of Bettendorf, formerly of Rock Island, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf. Funeral services are 11 a.m.
on Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church,
Rock Island. Burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island, where
military honors will be presented by Moline American Legion Post
246. Visitation is 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the
church. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island is assisting the
family. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, Rock
Island or to the Niabi Zoo, Coal Valley. |

Mr. Staubach was born on December 4, 1919 in Rock Island, the son of Arthur and Lydia Weaverling Staubach, Jr. He married Ronda L. Riceman on May 16, 1947 in Rock Island. Art graduated from Rock Island High School in 1937. He worked as a tool and die maker for Fairbanks and Morse, East Moline and later for Caterpillar Corp., Davenport. He retired in 1982. He was a WW II U.S. Army Veteran, having served as a PFC with the “D” Battery of the 96th AAA Gun Battalion. Art was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rock Island and the Moline American Legion Post 246. He enjoyed playing golf, cards and dominos, fishing, traveling and baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Ronda; son and
daughter-in-law, Terry and Bonnie Skaggs, Sr., East Moline; daughter
and son-in-law, Gale and John Hoff, Bettendorf; six grandchildren; a
great grandson; his sister, Lillian Davidson, Geneseo; and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents;
daughter, Judy Deisenroth; and a sister, Betty Beattie. |
