In October, 1996, St. James assumed the responsibility of cleaning up a 0.8-mile stretch of 14th Street West in south Rock Island. This activity occurs four times a year.  It usually takes about an hour to do the job.  The four dates for picking up trash and recyclable items in 2017 are May 6, July 8, September 9 and November 4.

The next cleanup date is planned for Saturday, May 6 at 8:45 am. If you would like to join in the fun and help beautify this well-traveled street, meet at the eastern parking lot of Mel McKay park in South Rock Island at 8:45 am.  At the park we will divide into two-person teams, receive instructions, put on a safety vest, and grab a trash bag. Please wear long pants and sturdy shoes. Gloves, 32″ grabbers, and bags will be provided.
